"Snow Birds" was inspired by my art research trip to the Rio Grande Valley where I was surprised by how many snow birds I encountered. Snow Birds is a term that typically refers to old retired white people who migrate from the Northern United States down to Southern states during the winter. The snow birds I encountered were spending time in Texas' Rio Grande Valley mostly for the bird watching. I found this interesting as many of them were unaware or unbothered by the amount of undocumented Latinx people immigrating through the same terrain.
