J. Leigh Garcia

Artists Freckles and Lola (a.k.a. J. Leigh Garcia and Maria Amalia Wood) led a free summer art workshop for 5th- 8th graders in the Madison, WI community from June 14- July 31, 2018.

The workshop, "Within These Walls is Home," incorporated comics, writing, papermaking, screenprinting and book binding techniques. An exhibition showcasing the students' comic books took place on August 2nd at Lighthouse Christian School.

This project was funded in part by a grant from the Madison Arts Commission, with additional funds from the Wisconsin Arts Board and Lighthouse Christian School.
